Horror Movie Review #3

September 26, 2025

*Note: I saw this movie the day after it was released however, I am late posting this.

I first stumbled upon weapons via TikTok. Admittedly, I don’t have cable, and I skip ads via a certain nameless web browser, so I was unaware of the movie coming out until a few days before its release. I figured I’d try it because it’s horror, and I started going to the movies again.

The movie centers around finding seventeen missing children who left their homes at 2:17a, all in the same fashion. These children occupied the same classroom. However, the morning after it happened, it was discovered that only one child from the classroom did not disappear, nor did the teacher. The parents blamed the teacher, and I had suspicions about the young boy from the start. Ain’t no way only one student didn’t disappear. Because the parents of the missing students believe the teacher is involved, the principal puts her on leave while the lone student is transferred into another classroom.

The teacher tried searching for answers, including bothering/questioning the lone student, who told her to leave him alone. The principal also tells her to leave the student alone.

Long story short, the lone student is being blackmailed but his aunt, who’s a witch. His parents are under her spell. She forced him to bring an article from each of his classmates, which caused them to fall under her spell. She is using their essence to stay vibrant because her health is declining. The children are not dead; however; they are being held in the basement of the lone classmate’s home, and he is very much aware because he feeds them to keep them alive. Just like his parents.

The young boy ends up breaking the spell to free his parents and classmates, and the classmates viciously attack the aunt, killing her in the process. The children and parents are freed; however, it’s noted a few do not fully recover. His parents were placed in a assistant living facility.

My thoughts were: I knew the classmate was involved somehow. At first, I thought a revenge tactic or even aliens. He seemed too calm throughout it. However, as the story progressed, my thoughts changed. Once I saw the parents, I knew with was possession. In a way, it’s given away in the first half.

I thought few of the points of view were unnecessary, and it dragged the movie along. The first half of the movie was a little boring and had a hard time holding my attention. The movie presented some downright creepy and funny parts; however, the multiple points of view killed it for me.

My rating of Weapons is in the middle. I didn’t get the hype. I didn’t think it was fantastic; however; it wasn’t bad — 3 out of 5 stars.
